Naturopathic Medicine
The best of both: modern science, traditional healing
-
Naturopathic medicine blends time-tested traditional healing practices with modern medical science. Rather than simply managing symptoms, the goal is to identify and treat the underlying cause of disease, supporting the body's natural capacity to heal and restore balanced physiology. Naturopathic Doctors take a whole-person approach, crafting personalized treatment plans suited to each individual. This approach is well suited to both acute and chronic conditions, and naturopathic medicine is widely recognized as a leader in preventative care.
A Naturopathic Doctor's therapeutic plan typically begins with individualized nutrition and lifestyle support, often combined with additional tools such as botanical (herbal) medicine, nutraceuticals, Traditional Chinese Medicine (including acupuncture), homeopathy, physical medicine, regenerative medicine, and hydrotherapy. In jurisdictions with prescriptive rights, this may also include prescription medications such as hormone therapy.
-
Naturopathic Doctors complete a 4 year Bachelor's degree followed by 4 years at a CNME accredited Naturopathic Medical school. They must pass two sets of national board examinations, along with licensure requirements in their jurisdiction.

The first appointment is all about you— focusing on your main concerns while collecting a complete health history. We get quite detailed on the history of the concerns, in effort to put a clear picture together on what may be contributing to symptoms. Disease or symptom states are multifactorial, meaning there are many things contributing to your current state of health. We focus on both internal and external stressors to tease out what areas we need to support. We always assess other systems that may or may not be part of your symptom picture, with a large focus on digestion and the menstrual cycle, as well as lifestyle habits. The history helps us develop a strategy of what labs or imaging we need to be done and any necessary referrals.
Once we’ve established where you’re at, step one is always setting the foundations for what is to come. The foundations often lie in lifestyle, as well as correcting deficiencies (dietary, yes, but also sleep for example!) Your first treatment plan will include a lot of detailed information on lifestyle, sometimes accompanied by a supplement recommendation- be it nutraceutical or herbs. The first follow up typically involves review of bloodwork, developing a more targeted and specific treatment plan based on the additional detail the lab results provide. Treatment suggestions will often include a combination of lifestyle recommendations (diet, sleep habits, stress management, exercise etc.) with herbal supplementation, nutraceuticals (vitamins), acupuncture, and/or Mercier Therapy. If we’re addressing skin concerns, microneedling or cosmetic acupuncture may be recommended.

PRP is a wonderful therapy that accompanies and augments microneedling treatments. We call it liquid gold for a reason! Platelets as well as the plasma contain a high concentration of growth factors and nutrients that signal the production of new cells, collagen, elastin, and blood vessels, making it perfect to pair with microneedling to enhance the skin and provide an overall refreshed appearance. An all natural alternative to age gracefully.
The platelets are extracted from your own blood, making this a natural product made by you. Studies have shown pairing PRP with microneedling may improve the appearance of scars and textural differences faster than microneedling alone. The controlled microtrauma from microneedling, which induces the production of collagen, combined with PRP further assists in collagen matrix formation. Collagen production and healing continue with time, meaning your results will continue to build and improve over 3-6 months.
PRP facials involve the use of the SkinPen microneedling pen, which is used over the treatment area after redistributing the PRP onto the skin somewhat like a serum. Dr. Lauren is also trained to perform manual injections of PRP into specific areas for more targeted concerns. Manual injections can produce some discomfort, however a numbing cream is applied, and the remainder of the procedure with the Skinpen is very comfortable.
Optimal results occur with a series of 3-6 treatments spaced 6 weeks apart, depending on the target area. -
Our primary goal is always to understand the type and cause of your hair thinning and hair loss. Hormonal imbalances, thyroid dysfunction, nutritional deficiencies, autoimmune diseases, inflammation, and metabolic dysfunction (ie. Insulin resistance/metabolic syndromes) are all potential contributors to hair loss in all genders. Alongside correcting deficiencies and supporting hormone imbalances, PRP can play a role in restoration of hair growth and reduce hair loss.
If are experiencing thinning, receding or other texture changes of your hair, you may be a candidate for platelet rich plasma treatments for hair loss. Reach out to schedule an initial intake to discuss your treatment options.

PRP is a regenerative therapy that uses the patient’s own blood to create an injectable solution containing a high concentration of platelets. The platelets, suspended in some plasma, are then injected back into the treatment area. PRP is rich in growth factors, nutrients, and amino acids which help to communicate and activate local stem cells. The micro-trauma to the tissue also signals recruitment of more growth factors and nutrients to the site of ‘injury’. The increase in growth factors and nutrients may lead to increased blood flow and circulation, enhanced tissue repair, tissue quality and wound healing, collagen and elastin production, and faster recovery from injury.
THE PROCESS
After a quick blood draw in office, the blood is then put into a centrifuge to spin and separate the plasma from red blood cells. Platelets are concentrated into the plasma, which is extracted into syringes. This solution is then either distributed topically over the area after microneedling with the SkinPen and/or manually injected into the face or scalp by syringe and needle.
Optimal results occur with a series of 3-6 treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart, depending on the concerns and target area. -
Cosmetic acupuncture is a minimally invasive way to proactively support healthy, radiant aging. It offers a gentle alternative to neuromodulators (like Botox), biostimulators (like sculptra), laser therapy, and other skin rejuvenation procedures. While treatment focuses primarily on the face and neck, points on the body are included as well, so the benefits extend well beyond skin and complexion. Facial cupping and gua sha can also be added on alongside the facial massage portion, to further sculpt, release tension, smooth fascia, enhance blood flow and promote lymphatic drainage.
Facial acupuncture works by improving circulation and microcirculation, increasing oxygenation of the tissues, and stimulating collagen production. Because the needles used are exceptionally fine, the treatment is very well tolerated. Patients typically notice improved complexion, circulation, hydration, and skin tone, along with a reduction in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
While it's ideal to begin proactively in your late 20s or early 30s and continue the practice through your 80s, cosmetic acupuncture offers benefits at any age. Dr. Lauren is trained in Mei Zen Cosmetic Acupuncture, a non-invasive approach that does not involve threading.
THE PROCESS
Settle in and get comfortable. We start with a facial massage, followed by facial cupping and gua sha if desired. Then small, sterile, single-use needles are gently inserted at specific points, individualized to you based on the signs and symptoms discussed during your visit. Some points may feel slightly more tender than others, though most patients feel very little — at most, a light poke. Once the needles are placed, you'll simply rest and relax while the treatment does its work. Afterward, facial serums and moisturizers are applied to complete the session
Some nutrients are best delivered directly — bypassing digestion for faster, more complete absorption. Intramuscular injections (like B12 or B-complex) offer a targeted way to replenish what your body is depleted in, and complement your broader treatment plan. Quick (delivered in seconds), effective, efficient, and administered safely in-office as part of your personalized care.
Small dose, direct route — replenish what your body needs, fast.

Traditional Acupuncture
Balance, restored one point at a time
Acupuncture is an ancient practice that originated in China and has been practiced as part of Traditional Chinese Medicine for approximately 3000 years. The philosophy is based on the flow of energy along channels (meridians) throughout the body, and that health comes from the free unrestricted flow of energy (qi) and fluids. If there is a blockage of the flow of energy, disease can occur.
How does Acupuncture work?
Small needles are placed at points along the meridians, acting like antenna with information for the body to restore the movement of energy and fluids, restoring balance and function. The more modern explanation is that the needles stimulate a response from our nervous system, causing the release of chemicals in the body that trigger a response, increasing blood flow and oxygenation to the tissues. Acupuncture is a safe and effective therapy used to treat many different concerns.
What is a treatment like?
Lay down, get comfy. Small needles are gently inserted into the skin at specific points along the body. The needles used are sterile and single use. Each treatment is individualized to the patient, with point selection determined by the practitioner based on the signs and symptoms discussed. Some points may be more tender, however often you feel very little, a slight poke if anything. Rest and relax while the treatment is delivered.
Mercier Therapy
Pelvic release for reproductive wellness
Mercier therapy is a soft tissue (visceral) manipulative therapy used to help restore and improve movement of the pelvis and the organs within. Where there is better movement there is better blood flow, and where there is better blood flow, there is better function.
This is a hands on non-invasive pelvic release therapy designed to allow you to reconnect to your pelvis, and to facilitate healing and balance.
This therapy is indicated for those experiencing fertility challenges, and/or chronic pelvic pain (menstrual pain, endometriosis/adenomyosis etc.), which may be stemming from structures surrounding the reproductive organs. The focus is improving the function of your reproductive organs (the uterus and ovaries), however the benefits are also shared by the other structures and organs of the pelvis including the urinary bladder, bowel, musculature, ligaments, and bones. It is a wonderful tool to support healing postpartum in both c section and vaginal deliveries, and after any pelvic surgeries such as a hysterectomy. Mercier therapy may also help reduce formation of post-surgical adhesions.
Mercier therapy is performed in 6x 60 minute sessions within a 4-6 week timeframe. The treatment is external only, requires no intravaginal work. An initial consultation with Dr. Lauren is required prior to treatment.
